Most people who update a profile are already working. Being visible to the market and invisible to the client you are sitting at is not an edge case — it is the ordinary situation, and it is the first thing this has to get right.

Three things, and the third is the one that matters. It stops further updates. It withdraws the copy they are holding. And it takes you out of that company's search results, so they cannot simply find you again next week and start over.
No reason is asked for and none is recorded. You do not have to explain to a company why you would rather it did not call you.
They are told the profile was withdrawn. They are not told that you blocked them, and never why — in a market this small, nobody should have to weigh a reprisal against a preference.
If a blocked company contacts you anyway, tell us. That is a breach of their terms and we can end their access — which is a promise about enforcement, not about magic.
